What is a survey and what is the purpose of a survey?

A survey is a line drawing of the property, which depicts not just the property lines but also the structures on the property. It also will tell us whether any structures, or fences, are encroaching onto the property, or if your property has structures encroaching onto a neighboring property. The purpose of that is for a title insurance company to be able to insure the property that you own the property only, and that no one else will have a right to claim even a portion of it.
